picnic + concert

I hope my last post didn't leave the impression that my life is all work and no play these days. Summer in Ashland has been great and it's been fun to figure out what to do in our new town. Last night we saw Andrew Bird at the Britt Pavilion. I enjoyed the show a lot and loved the venue too.

My pictures of the Britt Pavilion are a little crazy with the bad lighting but I hope you get the general sense of the outdoor stage and lawn seating in a beautiful setting. What really hooked me on the Britt Pavilion is that you can bring in your own food, wine and beer. I'll admit that I was equally excited to show up with my picnic basket and blanket as I was to see live music.

Andrew Bird was so good and quirky. I was also delighted by the quick and unexpected appearance of Laura Gibson with the opening band The Portland Cello Project. It was a perfect summer outing.

Hi there. It's me. I'm still here. Maybe just not as often as I'd like to be.

I think I'm having one of those moments when I'm bursting with things that I'd like to accomplish but a little deflated by the pace of my progress. It's hard to decide where to focus my energy right now. It's actually not a bad place to be - life feels like it is brimming with possibilities. Now to just dig in and do what I can do.

I'll be back soon!

summer social

Final+summer+social

I've been meaning to post about this for a while but it seems that time has just been flying by these days. I'm super excited to participate in the Summer Social sale hosted by the very talented Abby on July 25th in Portland. It is certain to be a great time. Along with a really good selection of photography, letterpress, screen printing, jewelry and vintage goodies for sale there will also be music and ice cream! To me it sounds like the perfect summer outing. Plus, look how cute the poster is.

I'll post more details about what I'll be selling in the coming weeks. You can also check the sale blog for lots of good info about the event.

Here are the final pictures from our california road trip. The whole reason for the road trip was to attend two weddings - both were in the santa cruz mountains and both included dear friends - that were one week apart. The locations were beautiful. These are a just few quick shots of the pre-wedding scenes.

I'm not very good about taking photos when I'm around people. I just sort of forget that my camera exists. Which is too bad because I'd love to have more photos of people I know.

We really only spent one day of our trip not in the midst of a group of friends. These photos are from Pescadero, CA where we spent our one solo day. I have lots of pictures from this day.

Here's a look at one corner of the living room when we moved in and how it looks now. We've basically been taking out everything that looks busy and outdated and replacing only what we need to with more simple and natural materials. We won't add a lot of furniture or decoration but we've still got at least a little work to do on that front.

More updates to come!

Here are a few photos from the trip. The top two are from a hike at UCSC in Santa Cruz. The bottom two are from Truckee - where some chose to climb boulders while others just relaxed on the ground.

catching up

Although I have tons to do right now I can't help but catch up with a handful of my favorite blogs. I love this photo from the sartorialist. I'm also excited to keep checking in on this -- the portland version of a street fashion blog.

Hello! After ten days of living like a nomad I'm back in Ashland catching up with things like email, text messages, etsy orders and my new robot vacuum cleaner. Things that don't seem quite real when you're not around them.

We had a great time catching up with dear friends and taking in some of California's beauty. I'll share a few photos over the next couple of days.

packing

Tomorrow we will hit the road for a 10 day visit to California. We will be attending two weddings - one week apart - both are right around Santa Cruz. In the week between the festivities we'll hang out in Santa Cruz and also meet some friends in Truckee for a bit of rock climbing (or reading in the sunshine in my case).

Today is all about packing and tying up loose ends. I have dresses for the fancier events picked out and a very large stack of books to keep me busy during any down time (a few new craft books and some fiction from the library). Now to fill in with everything else I'll need. I've nearly completed the instructions for our house sitter. With a dog, a cat, finches, chickens and a garden there seems to be a lot to write. I'm looking forward to being on our trip and finished with preparing for it!

I'll try to sneak in a post or two from the road. Otherwise I'll be back here in 10 days or so with at least a few pictures from our trip.
